The World Wanderers Podcast
We’re Amanda & Ryan and we’re the hosts of The World Wanderers podcast. We’re a traveling couple originally from Alberta, Canada with a love of exploring the world, eating great food (mostly Mexican food, if we’re being honest), learning new languages, and meeting new people. The World Wanderers podcast is a travel diary of our adventures since we started traveling together in 2011. We take you with us as we travel through Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia & New Zealand as 22-year old budget backpackers looking for the best party hostel. We take you with us to South America where we go through some our deepest personal transformations. We take you with us as we move to a small town in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and take a massive career pivot. We take you with us to the southern US where we lived for a year. We take you through Asia as we navigate the world of “digital nomad life”. We take you on all our adventures in Mexico, which is the country we both feel most at home in the world. And the adventures don’t stop there. With each new place we visit, food we try, and culture that we fall in love with (or maybe don’t fall in love with), we share that with you. The evolution of how we travel has changed dramatically since the beginning, but what hasn’t changed is our love for exploring the world. Join us every other Thursday for new episodes of The World Wanderers!
So much better now

It is painful to listen to their voices at the beginning. The vibration is horrible. I assume they got a voice coach. I still listen to the early episodes as the topics are great but the more recent episodes are a lot more enjoyable.
Fun and full of good advice

Love hearing about your new style of travelling with a baby in tow and all the challenges that brings (from a travelling mom who can relate!)
Hope you have changed your opinion on Elephant riding

Disappointed while listening to your Laos episode that you rode Elephants. This is not good for them and should never be done. Also your attitude about the food and looking for restaurants catering to tourists makes me wonder why you went there and travel at all.
Supporter of white supremacy

I tried for so long to hang in there, hoping the show would get better. At least they seemed to have stopped quasi bickering LOL! Anyway, most importantly, Amanda advertised her support for the January 2022 Canadian trucker’s convoy. Disappointing to see she’s gone the way of ‘bUt mUh fReEDoMzzz!’.
Entitled millennials travel the world

Oh how I enjoyed this podcast when I first started listening to it. However, in more recent episodes, there is a lot of disdain for "the corporate world" and all that it entails. There are many reasons that more people cannot embark upon the global lifestyle of these two. If they would approach it from a different perspective - "this is what we have chosen, and it's great for us!"- then it would be much more pleasant to listen to. However, the new condescending point of view is difficult to stomach. And I do wish that Amanda could give her recollections or point of view without constantly being corrected by Ryan. That aside, the podcast has a good premise.
Irresponsible International travel during the pandemic

Listening to your podcast episode where you detailed you move to Mexico in October 2020 reminded me of the time when I unwittingly stumbled upon an anti mask demonstration full of people convinced that their rights are being thwarted. The reason governments and health professionals want you to stay at home and stay away from other people is not because they care that you might get covid. They care that you might pass it in to someone who is old and frail like your Grandmother or you best friend with a chronic disease or someone you don’t know who has a compromised immune system. It’s selfish behaviour like yours that ruins everything for the rest of us. We all have a duty to do our part in looking after one another.
Beware of misinformation

Just listened to the internationalizing yourself episode with Simon where he gives advice on how to avoid being considered a resident of Canada for tax purposes. He suggested all you need to do is be out of the country for half the year. As a Canadian resident and a Canadian tax lawyer, this is wrong. Anyone intending to become a non- resident of Canada should be very wary of relying on what Simon says.

I really like when they have guest over. They both ask the guest good questions and conducts the interview in a professional manner. Continue what you’re doing and enjoy life :) Love from Canada.
Awesome podcast!

The Taiwan episode was incredibly rude and close-minded. Did you actually say that the entire city of Taipei looks like it needs to power washed? Everything about this episode was distasteful and insulting. For self-proclaimed “World Wanderers”, you’d think that these two would have a more open mind when it comes to experiencing different cultures. Taiwan is an incredible country that has plenty to offer and it should not be talked about in comparison/ or in the shadow of Japan. Don’t forget that many of our grandparents grew up in a Taiwan under Japanese rule. Even though the podcast ended on a higher note than how it began, it began on such a low note (she literally used the word “meh” to describe her feelings towards Taiwan) that I can’t imagine why anyone would be bothered to go there. Pick a better place to stay next time and do your research before complaining about 40 min MRT rides. Saying that you would rather have spent more time in Japan than in Taiwan? I can’t go into any more detail about everything that was wrong with this episode because of both the word limit and the fact that there’s so much crap to sift through. By all means, I’m not saying they shouldn’t be able to express how they really feel about the country, they are certainly entitled to their own opinions about Taiwan, but jeez, have a little more respect for the place and the people. Very poorly done and altogether quite disappointing.
