Meet our Interns: Shalini + Luke

We’re expanding over here at The World Wanderers, and we wanted to introduce you to the 2 newest members of the team: Shalini + Luke.

Shalini Kulkarni:

Shalini was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and grew up in a family that would hop in the car every long weekend to visit a new place! After graduating from McMaster University in Hamilton, Shalini fuelled her wanderlust by moving to England to do her Master’s degree, followed by a summer at an archaeological field school in Rome. After switching to a 9 – 5 gig in the IT industry, Shalini is finally taking off on the backpacking trip of her dreams this summer through South America, Southeast Asia and parts of Africa. Apart from seeing the world and immersing herself in the cultures around her, Shalini hopes to demonstrate the accessibility of long term travel for those who may want to take off on an adventure of their own. She knows if she can do it, anybody can!

Shalini is in charge of all things audio and we are so grateful that she’ll be spearheading our podcast production, taking the raw audio and turning it into the episodes that you hear. She’ll also be working on various projects that will help her achieve her dream of starting her own travel blog before her upcoming trip.

Luke Jacobs:

Luke is all about the power of self-education.

In his two years at the University of Michigan, he’s taken away very little practical knowledge from his 15+ courses (and now $100,000 in tuition). He wanted to start creating now. He began investing his free time into reading business books, reaching out to like-minded people online, and most importantly, creating a portfolio of work. Luke now knows the lifestyle he wants to cultivate for himself, and is so much happier knowing this than if he was just going through the motions of college.

For Luke, it’s all about online marketing and sales. He’s focusing his current attention into building his skills here, taking on some personal projects, and working with others. Luke’s main focus right now is creating awesome content for his adventure blog Life’s A Risk and helping us out with all things marketing. Luke is incredibly excited to see where he’ll be in not just 1 or 10 years from now- but a few months.

Luke enjoys all things outdoors, travel, and reading.

We are so excited to welcome Shalini + Luke to The World Wanderers and have them working alongside us. Stay tuned for some of their awesome work!
