It’s the most wonderful time of the year once again! If you’re shopping for a traveler or a digital nomad, it can be hard to figure out what to get them, but after nearly 8 years of traveling, we’ve got you covered with some affordable and travel friendly suggestions:
Kindle
We both used to add so much extra weight to our bags carting around books everywhere we went. Purchasing Kindle’s was a game changer! Not only can we buy any book we want with one click, but we also save so much space and weight with the Kindle since it’s small and lightweight and super easy to pack in our carry on.
Sleep Master Sleep Mask
We’ve both tried a couple of different sleep masks, and this one is easily the best! It has velcro at the back to make sure it’s a snug, yet comfortable fit, and it covers the entire eye to make sure that no light gets in. A sleep mask is essential when you’re traveling and sleeping in different places every couple of nights!
Berkey Sport Filtered Water Bottle
This is our first time traveling with the Berkey Sport Filtered water bottle and we LOVE them! The filter bottle removes or dramatically reduces a broad range of contaminants including pathogenic bacteria, heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, organic chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, and 97% of viruses. We often worry about the quality of water when we travel and this has eliminated a lot of our stress traveling around the world.
True Dark Blue Blocking Glasses
Airports have a TON of blue light that can cause headaches and make it hard to sleep. Having a part of blue blocking glasses has been an amazing addition to our travel packs, especially as we’ve increased our workload on the road. True Dark has some of the best quality blue blocking glasses, but you can also find other brands through a simple Google search.
Roost Laptop Stand
This one is for our fellow digital nomad friends! If you spend a lot of time working on your laptop, you’ll start to find that you are constantly looking down at your computer and it doesn’t feel very good on the neck. We’ve both started traveling with Roost laptop stands and they have been a game changer! The best part is that they fold up super small and lightweight and are very easy to fit into a day pack.
Pocket Pharmacy from Saje Natural Wellness
We don’t go anywhere without our pocket pharmacy from Saje Wellness! It has an essential oil for immunity, digestion, headaches, stress and pain. It comes in a cute little package that is easy to throw in your carry on AND the oils are small enough that you can take them on the plane without worrying about having too many liquids.
Manduka eKO Lite Yoga Mat
We’ve owned these mats for over a year now, and practiced yoga all over the world with them. They fold up super small and are very lightweight so that you can continue to stretch, practice yoga, or workout while on the road, without the burden of a super heavy mat!
The Mimic Method
One of the best ways to get excited about an upcoming trip is to start learning the local language. We’ve had a ton of success using The Mimic Method, developed by Idahosa Ness. It’s a fun way to learn a language(s) and start getting engaged with the local culture that you’ll be exploring and/or living in.
The lululemon Cruiser Backpack
We both LOVE this backpack (even though it’s a mens!). It has a separate compartment for your laptop, a space for a water bottle, the perfect pocket for your passport and sunglasses, and tons of space inside. It’s the perfect size for carry on, and it works great for taking to the coworking space or going on a hike. On top of that, it’s great quality and it’s waterproof!
World Nomads Travel Insurance
Sure, buying your family and friends travel insurance sounds pretty boring, but it’s a massive expense for travelers and it can be so, so helpful to get that as a gift. We swear by World Nomads and would recommend it for all our fellow backpackers and digital nomads.
Happy travels & happy shopping!
