Guadalajara Restaurants: 15 Must-Try Places To Eat And Drink In

After spending seven weeks living, working, and hanging out in Guadalajara, Mexico, we were able to identify a lot of standout restaurants and bars in the area. We were never far from amazing food! If you’re planning a trip to Mexico and asking yourself, where to eat in Guadalajara? We definitely recommend checking out these delicious locations.

Where To Eat In Guadalajara

Breakfast

La Cafeteria

La Cafeteria is a traditional breakfast option that was located close to our Airbnb, in the Americana District. It operates in a cute old house, and they offer an extensive menu. You can order everything from omelets and pancakes to juices and coffees. They also serve some traditional Mexican dishes and are open for lunch in the afternoon!

La Chata

If you’re looking for a traditional Mexican breakfast, La Chata is the place to go! It’s also open for lunch and dinner, and there are a lot of locations, so it’s quick and convenient. The daily specials are always varied and tasty, and the portion sizes are great, too. We especially loved their chilaquiles, tacos, and enchiladas!

Lunch

Taco Fish La Paz

Taco Fish La Paz has a couple of different locations in Guadalajara, one of them within walking distance of our coworking space during our trip! The atmosphere is amazing; there are so many different types of fish offered. They have breaded fish, grilled fish, shrimp, cheesy options, and so much more. And everything tastes incredible. You can get a couple of tacos, a tall glass of hibiscus juice, and heaps of sauces and toppings, all for a reasonable price. If you visit Guadalajara, you have to check out Taco Fish La Paz.

Guadalajara Restaurants:

Los Clarimiscos

This is an excellent seafood restaurant and the perfect low-key lunch stop, located in the Chapultepec area. There are a lot of amazing ceviche dishes on the menu, which we really enjoyed and highly recommend!

Guadalajara Restaurants:

Hato Ramen

Who knew Guadalajara would have such fantastic ramen noodles?! Hato Ramen even offers gluten free options, which made Amanda super happy. (This was the first time she tried ramen as an adult!) Prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. Definitely worth checking out!

Guadalajara Restaurants:

Labne Cocina Libanesa

Lebanese cuisine in Mexico? Yes, please! This one is great for lunch or dinner. The food is excellent, and so is the service!

Dinner

BRUNA

BRUNA is a fancier dinner option, perfect for a night out with friends. The atmosphere is very cool, and they offer a variety of great cocktails. Though it isn’t overly budget-friendly, the food is great, and we definitely recommend it for a special occasion!

Guadalajara Restaurants: Bruna

Suehiro

This is hands down, our favorite sushi restaurant in Mexico. The outside of the building looks a little strange, but the inside has a cool, zen vibe. If you’re craving sushi while in Guadalajara, this is the place to go.

Cabanna

Cabanna is one of our all-time favorites. We discovered it in Mexico City and were super excited to find one in Guadalajara as well. Great atmosphere and delicious food!

Guadalajara Restaurants: Cabanna

La Docena

This is another seafood restaurant and another place we originally discovered in Mexico City. It’s open for lunch, dinner, and even brunch! La Docena offers a great selection, and the quality is fantastic. Definitely one of our favorites!

Cafes

Gong Cha

Our favorite bubble tea chain, present and accounted for! We recommend the passion fruit with coconut jelly, which we lived on for months upon months while we were living in Asia.

Vanilla Coffee and Tea

This is a more traditional cafe, located in the Americana District. They offer a wide selection of coffees and teas, perfect for a quick pick-me-up!

Guadalajara Restaurants: Coffee

Cafe M

Cafe M is super cute and very tasty. It’s near Gong Cha, Cabanna, and others, so you’ll have plenty to choose from in that area alone!

Drinks

Bar Mezcal Agüita

Chapultepec is full of great bars, but this one is definitely a favorite. It has a super cool atmosphere, and local artists regularly display their creations here.

Cervecería Chapultepec

For a low-key and affordable evening with friends, we recommend Cervecería. They serve good drinks and good pub food at many different locations in Chapultepec. They’re constantly packed, which has a little something to do with the fact that everything on the menu is 19 pesos (about $1 USD). Beers, mixed drinks, mini burgers, fries, tacos… all 19 pesos each.
