Nashville is known for it’s country music, late night bars on Broadway, and is most likely America’s number 1 city for bachelorette parties. It’s a city where you see people from all over the world and of all ages visiting. It’s the kind of place that is fun all day and all night, and one of the best places for a weekend trip.
After a super fun weekend exploring the city and all of the bars on Broadway, here are my (Amanda’s) top recommendations for a weekend in Nashville:
Where to Stay:
AirBnb. This is pretty much my answer every time someone asks me where to stay anywhere in the world, but AirBnb is actually your best bet if you want to stay close to the action for an affordable-ish price (Nashville is touristy, so it’s relatively expensive in general).
If you’ve never used AirBnb and would like to get a discount, sign up here!
Nashville also has a really central hostel that I stayed at the last time I was there, and if you’re on more of a budget, this is a great option.
Where to Eat:
There are SO many food options, but here are a few places we checked out:
Hattie B’s Hot Chicken – This place is unreal! The friend chicken is delicious, and unlike anywhere I’ve ever eaten before. There is often a long line, but it’s worth the wait.
Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint – This place is really central and they make some mean ribs! If you’re looking for delicious BBQ and a great Bloody Mary, this is the place!
Acme Feed & Seed – This is a great place for any meal of the day! You order at the counter and then find a seat and they almost always have live music. If you want to listen to music WHILE eating, this is the place!
The Diner – This is the best place that we found for late night eats! They have tons of options and they are open super late (after all the bars close!).
City Tap – This is a great place for a sit down meal with some good cocktails or beer! The food is great and one of our favorite dishes was the brussel sprouts! The environment is also really nice, and they have a rooftop patio with a beautiful view of the city.
Whiskey Kitchen – This is another great place for a sit down meal, with a ton of really great food options. It also has a great vibe and is perfect for before a night of bar hopping on Broadway.
Where to Drink:
FGL House – There are a couple of stories the FGL house so you can check out each level and see what you’re feeling depending on the night and the band!
Tootsies Orchard Lounge – Tootsies is a must visit if only for a couple of songs and / or a couple of drinks!
The Stage – The Stage is super fun and had great bands the entire time I was visiting! This is definitely one of my favorite bars on Broadway, and the rooftop is also awesome.
Honky Tonk Central – This bar has a couple of different levels, all playing different music, which means you can choose what you’re feeling and if you’re not feeling a song you can go to a different floor. This is easily one of the most fun bars on Broadway!
What to Do:
Bar hop on Broadway – This is definitely what Nashville is most famous for, and it is so much fun, especially if you are in Nashville with a big group of friends. There is live music playing at all hours of the day and night, and there are some seriously talented people performing. Even if bar hopping isn’t your thing, I would recommend giving it a try when in Nashville!
Visit the Country Music Hall of Fame – If you like country music, this is definitely work checking out. It only takes a couple of hours (at most) and it is affordable, so it’s completely worth your time and money if you are a Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, or any other country music star fan.
See a Show at the Bluebird Cafe – The Bluebird Cafe puts on regular shows with amazing up and coming artists. It’s really hard to get tickets because it was made famous through the show “Nashville”. If you can snag a ticket though, the experience is incredible and totally worth it.
Tour the Ryman Auditorium – This is where the Grand Ole Opry show used to take place! On a previous trip to Nashville I got to see a show there and it was so neat to sit in the auditorium and take it all in. If there don’t happen to be any shows playing at the Ryman, it’s worth it to take a tour.
Visit the Grand Ole Opry – The Grand Ole Opry is a quirky, 1-on-1 a kind experience that gives you a bit of insight into the heart and soul of country music in Nashville. This is an experience that you only need once, but it’s worth it to go and check it out.
Visit the Gulch – The Gulch is where the famous wings that you see on Instagram are located (no, I did not wait for a photo) and it’s also full of cute shops. If you want to escape the chaos and hustle and bustle that is Broadway and see a different side to Nashville, the Gulch is a fun place to check out.
