We spent an incredible month exploring Antigua, Guatemala, and if you know us, you know we like to eat our way through a new city / town! Antigua had a ton of great places to eat and drink, but here are some of our favorites:
Toko Baru
This was our favorite place in town! We literally ate her a few times per week because the food is amazing and the price is right! The food is an Asian / Indian fusion and everything we ate here was to die for. Highly recommend.
Roots
Roots was super close to the co-working space that we worked at so we often would pop over here for a good smoothie, bowl or a healthy, homemade meal! Please note that everything here is made by scratch so it can get really busy and the waits get long. We recommend visiting on an off-hours time!
Cactus Taco
You can count on us to find a good Mexican place to eat at! Cactus Taco has really good tacos and everything is also quite well-priced here. If you’re craving Mexican while in Antigua this is a great option.
Fridas
Okay, so we found 2 good Mexican places! Fridas is a popular place for food and drinks with tourists. It’s a bit pricier, but the margaritas are worth it and the vibe is really fun.
Union Cafe
Great healthy eats and smoothies! We ate here for both breakfast and lunch and enjoyed it every time we went. They have lots of veg and gluten free options, so if that’s your vibe, this is a great place to visit!
Bella Vista Cafe
This quickly became our favorite cafe in town! They have good breakfast, great coffee, and amazing sunset views. They also sell beer, so if you want to kick back and watch the sunset after a long day of hiking, exploring or working, this is a great option. Oh and this is a great place to work because the internet actually works there!
Samsara
Samsara has amazing vegetarian food! If you’re craving a nourishing veggie meal for a good price, we definitely recommend a visit to Samsara. They also have lots of great juice options and elixirs!
Guat-ik
This came as a recommendation for good Guatemalan food! It was a bit of a higher price point, but really nice food, great service and an overall good experience. You could definitely find local food for a more affordable price, but if you have picky stomachs like we do, this is a solid option!
Y Tu Pina Tambien
This is a cute cafe with good breakfast, sandwiches and smoothies! We only went one time, but we really enjoyed our meal here. In particular, Y Tu Pina Tambien serves up a really good, authentic Guatemalan breakfast.
Rainbow Cafe
This place has good meals and a good vibe. They have an assortment of food to choose from, and they also have live music, which adds to the dining experience!
Amanaceur Juice
If you’re craving some fruits and veggies, this is your place! Amanaceur has good juices, smoothies and smoothie bowls!
Caoba Farms
This is a bit out of town (still walkable, or there is a shuttle), but it is totally worth the trip! They have such good food and live music. We even found some gluten free pizza, which was such a treat. There is a farmers market on Saturday that is great, and the vibe there is awesome with a lot of the locals, tourists, and expats coming together to join a meal and live music. You can follow them on Facebook to find out about their events.
