This week on the podcast we are talking about traveling as a couple! We’ve been traveling together since 2011, and have spent the last 7 years backpacking around the world, working and traveling, moving to different cities, and taking vacations together. We’ve had a ton of great experiences together, and we’ve also learned a lot about what it takes to successfully travel with your partner.
On this episode we cover what we’ve learned about traveling together and how it’s improved our day-to-day life at home, the pros and cons of traveling as a couple, how we make sure that both of us is independently happy and appreciative of the other person, the challenges of traveling with your partner, and more.
Enjoy!
What we talk about in this episode:
- What traveling together has been like for us
- Why clear and open communication is important
- How traveling as a couple can break down barriers and help you get to know your partner in a completely different way
- Because you don’t have other people with you, it’s important to find ways to meet your needs and be happy independently of one another
- Getting comfortable doing activities alone – learn to honestly communicate what you want to do and be confident to do it on your own if you partner doesn’t want to join
- Recognize the contributions that you’re both making to the experience and recognizing each other’s strengths and weaknesses
- The challenges of meeting new people as a couple when you’re traveling
- Be open to getting to know your partner in a different way when you’re traveling and spending all your time together
- If you’re fighting about nothing, make sure no one is hangry!
- And much more… Here’s the episode!
